ONSIDE – Privacy Policy

We are the Organization for Nova Scotia Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship (“ONSIDE”,” “we,” or “us”), a not-for-profit organization that is focused on working collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to galvanize a prosperous Nova Scotia through inclusive Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship (IDE).

ONSIDE is committed to protecting the privacy of all users of our websites (including www.onsidenow.ca, and www.startnowincubator.ca ), (the “Website”) and our services, including virtual and in-person events and collaborative projects we may host or provide from time to time (the “Services”). This policy describes how we collect, use and disclose personal information in the provision of the Services. “Personal information” means any information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.

Where we provide our Services in collaboration with another party, (for example, ONSIDE’s collaboration with Mashup Lab, www.mashuplab.ca to provide the Virtual Business Incubator Project), please refer to the privacy policy of that other party for information about how they collect, use and disclose personal information for their own purposes.

By using ONSIDE’s Services, you give consent to the use and disclosure of information that is collected or submitted as described in this Privacy Policy. If you have any questions about ONSIDE’s privacy practices or policies, please contact [info@onsidenow.ca or startnow@onsidenow.ca].

Our privacy commitment is based on the ten fair information principles that form the basis of the CSA Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information: Accountability; identifying purposes; consent; limiting collection; limiting use, disclosure, and retention; accuracy; safeguards; openness; individual access; and challenging compliance.

Please read the Privacy Policy carefully before using the Services. By using the Services, you accept and agree to be bound and abide by the Privacy Policy. If you do not want to agree to the Privacy Policy, you must not access or use the Services.

Collection of Personal Information

Information You Provide To Us

We collect personal information that users of our Services provide directly to us. We may also collect an individual’s opinions on topics (for example, when responding to a survey) or other qualitative information submitted to us.

For some projects and Services, we partner with and/or receive funding from government agencies, where a condition of our funding is the collection of certain demographic characteristics of project participants, which is then shared with the funding agency in an aggregated format (not identifying individual project participants). For example, in accordance with our funding agreement with the Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), we provide demographic information to the Women’s Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub. Examples of the kinds of demographic information that we may ask project participants to provide include:
